EDA: Neuromorphic Computing Coming Up!
Hi Folks,
EDA’s next event, Introduction to Neuromorphic Computing, will be led by Excel’s own Alon Glazer on Sunday, February 26th. The first ~30 minutes of the event will be dedicated to his presentation + Q&A, and the remainder of the time will be left for open discussion as part of the normal EDA Coffee Chats.
If you’re not already on the EDA Coffee Chats google calendar invites or declined them, please reach out to us and we can re-forward the invites.
Here’s a brief description of the event:
The human brain uses about 20 Watts while a laptop needs more than twice that much. What makes the brain and nervous system more efficient? Can we leverage that power for computing purposes? In this talk we'll briefly explore the field of Neuromorphic (brain-inspired) computing and engineering to try to better understand the basics of Spiking Neural Networks, how they can be more efficient than traditional computing, and their growing research applications.

On another note, we’d like to welcome Shai Somekh to the EDA team! She’ll be working with Shany Hordan to stand up the EDA community in Israel (as part of the new Israeli micro-communities). The five of us will be working closely together to broaden EDA’s reach across Excel communities and ensure we’re incorporating everyone. Here’s a bit about her:
Hi, I'm Shai Somekh, currently a student in the Arison Honors Program and the Business & Data Analytics Program at Reichman University. I'm truly passionate about the field of Data science and analytics. I enjoy learning new things and meeting new people. Another big passion of mine is culinary, which led me to establish “Dooda TLV” with both of my friends - a food and restaurant guide focused on the amazing Tel Aviv food scene.
